A merger of equals

 

The Swiss company Clariant and Huntsman have announced their intention to join in a ‘merger of equals’. Expected to close by the end of this year, both companies together will form a specialty chemicals company with an enterprise value of approximately U.S. $20 billion at announcement.

 

The combined company will be named HuntsmanClariant, with stock listings in the United States and in Switzerland.  Current Huntsman President and CEO Peter Huntsman will be the CEO of the combined company. Clariant CEO Hariolf Kottmann will be appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors.
