GCI Consultants Commend Shauna Serafini for Earning Prestigious Fenestration Certification and Waterproofing Designation

West Palm Beach, Florida, United States - 11-17-2022 (PR Distribution™) -

Longtime GCI leader expands her knowledge with highly sought-after fenestration certification and earns the title of Registered Waterproofing Consultant.

West Palm Beach, FL - November 17, 2022 - Shauna Serafini, Senior Consultant at GCI Consultants, has earned a FenestrationMaster® professional certification, and the title of Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC®).

The FenestrationMaster certification is a result of Serafini fulfilling the requirements of the program developed by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and currently administered by the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA), which offers professionals the latest information in industry standards and practices and validates their knowledge through certification.

“FGIA’s FenestrationMaster education and certification program is ideal for experienced professionals who meet the enrollment eligibility criteria and are motivated to prove their understanding of the fenestration industry. Course candidates gain in-depth knowledge of a variety of topics related to fenestration product performance and testing,” says Janice Yglesias, FGIA Executive Director.

The Registered Waterproofing Consultant designation was administered by the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), after Serafini met the requirements of a two-part program based on an application process and the successful completion of a challenging examination. Serafini now joins an elite group of over 90 Registered Waterproofing Consultants in the U.S. and Canada.

Since joining GCI Consultants in 2009, Serafini has worked on hundreds of projects throughout Florida including new construction consulting and forensic investigations on existing buildings. She provides expertise in construction management services, quality assurance inspections, design document reviews, forensic investigations and expert witness testimony support while mentoring her associate consultants. Her principal areas of practice include building enclosures, glazing systems, waterproofing systems, water leak investigations and wind damage investigations.

"These certifications were important to me because I deal with glazing and waterproofing systems on a regular basis from all avenues including new construction, forensic and construction defect claims," says Serafini. "This is another way in which clients can recognize my knowledge and expertise so that I can help them solve and prevent future building envelope problems.”

The FenestrationMasters Program provides certifications and education that covers the entire fenestration industry, including performance standards, products and materials, test methods and code requirements.

To become a Registered Waterproofing Consultant, applicants must possess verifiable levels of work experience and education, high ethical standards, and a satisfactory score on both the RWC and General Consultant Knowledge (GCK) exams.
