High School Students Organize To Donate Lifesaving PPE To Healthcare Workers Battling COVID-19

“In face of a nationwide shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), three high students have organized to source and donate respirator masks, eye protection, and precaution suits to healthcare workers battling the pandemic. Having donated hundreds of mask to date, their non-profit, Mask Force, is seeking financial support on GoFundMe for its next donation of lifesaving PPE.”

Belmont, MA – As COVID-19 cases in the United States exponentially increase, three high school students have joined together and established Mask Force, a non-profit organization, to source and donate lifesaving personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals and healthcare workers.

With an influx of COVID-19 patients presenting in hospitals nationwide, healthcare workers and first responders to this evolving pandemic are facing a dangerous shortage of PPE, including respirator masks, eye protection, and precaution suits, that allow them to provide lifesaving care without compromising their health and safety. Donating EU certified (149:2001 and A1:2009) PPE to American hospitals and emergency services, Mask Force is connecting healthcare workers nationwide with an FDA-approved alternative to traditional N95 masks and filtration methods that protect against COVID-19.

During non-crisis situations, Mask Force, Inc. focuses its efforts on providing financial support and medical supplies to local communities and at-risk civilians.

“We began to better understand the gravity of the COVID-19 pandemic when schools across America began to close, including our own high school,” remarked Anya Button co-director of Mask Force. “Once the hospitals in Massachusetts began to run out of emergency equipment, we knew we had to do something to protect the brave doctors and nurses on the frontlines. We were able to utilize our personal connections to get in contact with mask manufacturers, allowing us to avoid consumer markups and price gouging. This enables us to donate EU certified equipment which is much more effective than DIY or handsewn masks.”

Mask Force has sourced and donated hundreds of PPEs to healthcare workers on the frontlines of this pandemic to date. In March 2020, Mask Force responded to its first call-to-action from the University of Michigan for extra medical supplies by coordinating the shipment of 500 KN95/FFP2 masks to hospitals in the University of Michigan network. Currently processing through customs, these 500 masks will reinforce the lifesaving efforts of healthcare workers across the University of Michigan system. Mask Force has ordered another 3000 masks which are awaiting shipment to Boston area hospitals.

Mask Force is encouraging any government or medical institution in need of supplies to get in touch. A non-profit organization, Mask Force is seeking generous financial contributions to bring more PPEs to healthcare workers across the United States. At the beginning of a global pandemic, there remains much to do in support of hospitals and healthcare workers facing dangerous PPE shortages.
