THOUSANDS TO PROTEST LOCKDOWN -- Downtown Los Angeles May 1, 2020, 12PM Noon, City Hall, 200 N. Spring St.

By: Issuewire

Los Angeles, Apr 30, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Various concerned individuals and bipartisan groups have joined to send a message to Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Eric Garcetti, regarding harmful measures enacted in response to COVID-19.

We the People of Los Angeles, California demand our elected officials:

  • Lift the unconstitutional* "lockdown" of all businesses, including those not deemed "essential" as this has caused unemployment to skyrocket, businesses to permanently close and others to declare bankruptcy. In addition, families will go hungry as a result of having no means of financial support. Mental illness and suicide due to depression from isolation caused by this policy should also be considered along with child abuse -- now on the rise -- and domestic violence.
  • Leave the wearing of protective attire up to the individual, per our US Constitution, and as various doctors have stated that mask-wearing and glove-wearing may offer negligible protection and even have detrimental effects to the health of the wearer.
  • Open all State and City Parks and Facilities, as these are funded by We the People through our tax dollars, and the use of these is proven to be healthful to the public.

Please note these demands do not prevent any individuals or groups from sheltering at home, practicing social distancing, wearing protective gear or closing their businesses according to their own opinions and at their own discretion.

Despite repeated event removal by Facebook we concerned individuals and groups will host a mass demonstration spanning from City Hall, 200 N. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90026 starting at 12 PM noon on Friday, May 1st. Thousands on foot as well as in vehicles are expected. All demonstrators are urged to be orderly, respectful and peaceful while exercising their first amendment constitutional right to free speech and the right to assemble peaceably to petition their government.
