The FCC has decided that all devices that are intentional radiators, in the FCC frequency spectrum, must receive an FCC certification prior to being marketed for sale in the US.

FCC Certification with Compliance Testing

Compliance Testing will test your product or device to the appropriate FCC Standards or FCC Rule Part to validate compliance. The completed FCC test report must then be submitted to a TCB (Telecommunication Certification Body) for review and approval. The manufacturer then will receive an FCC Grant enabling the sale of the device in the US market.

The FCC Certification process will typically follow these steps:ONEThe manufacturer will authorize Compliance Testing Test Lab to apply for an FCC FRN number. This registers the manufacturer with the FCC in advance of submitting devices for FCC Grants.TWOCompliance Testing will obtain the FCC Grantee code (Company FCC Code) from the FCC on behalf of the manufacturer and used in the FCC ID.THREEThe Manufacturer will then provide a device to Compliance Testing  Test Lab for evaluation, and applicable FCC testing according to the required FCC standards.FOURCompliance Testing will then generate an FCC test report to show the device has passed the appropriate FCC tests meeting the FCC standard(s).FIVEThe manufacturer will need to provide Compliance Testing all appropriate documentation required for the FCC Filing.SIXThe FCC test report, along with other documentation, (see Necessary Documentation)  will be submitted to our TCB (Telecommunications Certification Body), who will obtain the grant.SEVENThe FCC made changes to the certification process in 2015 and no longer accepts applications for certification.  Applications for certification must now be submitted through a recognized TCB (Telecommunications Certification Body). Compliance Testing is accredited to ISO 17065:2012 TCB and is recognized by the FCC to accept applications for certification. Compliance Testing’s TCB can generally process an FCC Grant within a week or two.
