Introducing the Los Angeles Ignite: A New Era in Basketball Fueled by Purpose

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / April 17, 2024 / Introducing the Los Angeles Ignite: a new era in basketball fueled by purpose. The Los Angeles Ignite is a professional basketball team founded by team market owner Dr. Philip McDonald in The Basketball League. Dr. McDonald and his wife, singer Shelea Melody McDonald, hope to improve the Los Angeles community by heading up the basketball team. They are known for their charitable endeavors in LA and are adding Los Angeles Ignite to their list of causes.

Experts, including former professional basketball players and experienced philanthropists, will lead the team. Head coach Vicken Eskidjian has eighteen years of pro-ball experience and has coached FIBA in Asia and Europe for fourteen years. In addition, he has most recently been working as a trainer and athletic director at the Academy USA, a performance gym in Glendale, California. Working in the neighboring suburb of Los Angeles has given him a solid connection to the LA community, and Eskidjian is proud to act as a mentor and role model for up-and-coming athletes.

Former professional basketball player Dwight Walton will be the team's general manager. His career took him overseas, where he represented Canada at many prestigious tournaments, including the 1988 Summer Olympics. Attorney Miles Jordan will be the President of Basketball Operations. His professional history includes financial literacy consulting for professional athletes, marketing consulting, and acting as an agent for the NIL. As a Harvard and Wake Forest graduate, Jordan lends legitimacy and professionalism to the business side of the team's leadership.

Assistant coach Joe Devance, winner of the NCAA Conference tournament in 2004 and professional basketball player of seventeen years, rounds out the formidable team.

On the philanthropy side, Tiffany Vo will take the lead as Community Service Director. A health professional with an education and therapy background, Vo is focused on harnessing local efforts to effect global change. Her former positions in individual, group, and community therapy put her in touch with the challenges of living in Los Angeles. Bill Southard will be Chief of Sponsorships and Endorsements, navigating sponsor acquisition strategies. Southard is an invaluable team member with over 35 years of communications experience.

Chief Marketing Officer Gary Chivichyan, Social Media Strategist Brandon Armstrong, and Film Director and Producer Jonathan Ryan Scott are completing the marketing and communications team. Chivichyan and Armstrong have connections to professional basketball; Chivichyan is a former player, and Armstrong became famous online for his impressions of pro ballers. Scott is directing an upcoming docuseries about Ignite Los Angeles and will continue as the dedicated filmmaker for the organization. He has won eight National Sports Emmy Awards for his work on leading sports television networks in the US and for his role in the NCAA March Madness Tournament.
